For this project, we were challenged to pick a movie or television title sequence and recreate it using our own footage. I selected the title sequence from the popular 2000s movie, SuperBad. In the original we see the two main characters doing funny dances as silhouettes. I filmed this by setting up a green screen in my living room and recruiting my roommate to come dance with me. I went between Premier Pro and After Effects to execute my vision. This project required a lot of trial and error, but the outcome was worth it.
Process:
After studying the original title sequence, as seen on the left, I wanted to use the elements demonstrated such as silhouettes and transitions, but add my own touches. I wanted the colors to have more pinks, blues and purples to add more pop to it.
For the dancing, I wanted it to have the same awkward feel so I just had myself and my friend dance however we wanted to make it feel authentic and a bit funny. We are definitely not dancers so I think it created a really comedic vibe.
I learned quickly that it was easiest to shoot my friend, Alexa, and me separately and edit us together when needed.
